The Expanse 1x05 "Back to the Butcher" - Holden and the crew make a deal with an unlikely ally on Tycho station; at the same time, Miller's obsession with conspiracy theories and the disappearance of Julie Mao continues to grow.
I'm hoping there are a few of you here who have been checking this show out. I've not been this excited for a SyFy show in ages and I'm beginning to believe the claims from some critics that this could be even better than Battlestar Galactica was (let's just blissfully forget the finale).
The effects of the show, the world building, and the characters are really well done so far (not to mention the diversity of the cast). The first episode may or may not have you sold, but I guarantee by the end of Ep 3 and 4 you'll be hooked. I've included the show trailer and synopsis here for those curious :
Two hundred years in the future, in a fully colonized Solar System, police detective Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane), born in the asteroid belt, is given the assignment to find a missing young woman, Julie Mao (Florence Faivre). Meanwhile, James Holden (Steven Strait), the first officer of an ice freighter, is involved in a tragic incident that threatens to destabilize Earth, Mars and the Belt. Far away from their struggles in space, Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), a United Nations executive, works to prevent war between Earth and Mars by any means necessary. Soon, the three find out that the missing woman and the ice freighter's fate are part of a vast conspiracy that threatens all humanity.
