ONTD Original - 4 Forgotten Girlbands of the Late 90's/Early 2000's

The birth and subsequent death of The Spice Girls opened the flood gates for girlpower around the world. Here are 4 timeless and iconic girlbands from the best my favorite period in music history.

Dream
Years Active: 1998-2003

Signed to Bad Boy Records in 1998, these girls were the precursor to Danity Kane. They released one album stateside, 2000's It Was Just A Dream. The album peaked at number 6 and they gained the hit single He Loves U Not, which peaked at number 2 on the Hot 100. They released another album in 2003 that never made its way to America. Shortly after dropping them Diddy launched Making The Band 3 to find their replacement. Also, one of their music videos is Danity Kanes first album cover

702
Years Active: 1994-2006

Named after their area code, this group is basically only known for this one amazing song that peaked at number 4 on the Hot 100. They released 3 albums over their career, with the most successful one being their second album, which peaked at 35.

B*Witched
Years Active: 1997-2002

Shockingly, thier 1998 debut album peaked at 12 on the Billboard 200. They're are most known for this timeless bop and wonderfully irish music video for their biggest hit single which peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100.

Edens Crush
Years Active: 2001-2002

Otherwise known as The Birth of Nicole Scherzinger, Edens Crush was formed on the WB show Popstars. They only released one album (which I still own the physical copy of) that peaked at number 6. Their only release to chart, the amazing Get Over Yourself, peaked at number 8 on the Hot 100 and they never made it past their first album. Nicole signed to Interscope shortly after the demise of this group to lead Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls to doll global domination
