- Sesame Street has been struggling for funding lately since fewer families are purchasing videos and merchandise (90% of their funding) and apparently 2/3 of children view the show via streaming
- The deal will increase the amount of episodes per season from 18 to 35
- Sesame Street will air edited versions of old episodes on PBS this fall while new episodes air on HBO
- HBO has the exclusive rights to air new episodes, "but the poors can see it a year after the truly needy kids who can afford the best schools."
