Jurassic World continued to drop in the US box office this week going from #5 to #8. However it's total earnings have surpassed it's competition in both the domestic and world wide all time box office. The fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise has now bumped 2012's The Avengers from the #3 spot.
The film's momentum is slowing down, earning $6.9M domestically this weekend opposed to last weekend's $11.4M, so it might be the end of the road as far as record breaking is concerned. Also since numbers and charts are fun, when you take inflation into account, Jurassic World sits at #27 with the original Jurassic Park at #16. Jurassic World is one of only four movies from the 21st century to crack the top thirty when inflation is taken into account. The other films are The Dark Knight (#30), The Avengers (#28) and Avatar (#14).
Hope everyone had a fun time at the movies this weekend!
