'Jurassic World' continues to dominate

In case you missed it, Jurassic World claimed the #1 spot for the third week in a row with Inside Out at #2 and Ted 2 at #3. With an estimated $54.2 million coming in this weekend Jurassic World is officially the #1 film in the domestic box office for the year so far having surpassed Avengers: Age of Ultron:. Not only that but Jurassic World, only three weeks into it's release, is the highest grossing film in the US since 2012's The Avengers. The film also just gave the UK their biggest box office since November of 2012 and box office experts are now predicting it to become China's second highest grossing film of all time behind another Universal film, Furious 7.

With Jurassic World's current overall total at $1.24 billion it is now the #8 highest grossing film of all time having knocked Iron Man 3 out of the spot. It's also approximately $30 million away from bumping Frozen out of #7 (insert "Let It Go" pun here).

Jurassic World has also jumped to the #5 spot on the all time domestic box office list.

The momentum isn't going to last forever, experts are currently predicting a massive opening for Minions on July 10, but it's a nice change of pace to see something other than a superhero movie dominate the box office.
