"Fijación Oral, Vol. 1" turns 10 years old

This week, Shakira took to her social media to post a picture of her album "Fijación Oral, Vol. 1" with the caption "Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 is ten years old this week!"

Four years after her successful crossover album Laundry Service, Shakira finally released what would be her fifth studio album on June 3. All songs were written by Shakira with the exception of Día Especial, which was written by legendary Argentinean singer-songwriter Gustavo Cerati. Shakira also wrote the music (collaborating with Cerati and long-time friends Lester Mendez and Luis Ochoa) and produced every song in the album.

Fijación Oral enjoyed great critical and commercial success, debuting at no. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and topping charts in Argentina, Germany, Spain and Mexico. It became the best-selling Latin album of the last decade and one of the best-selling Latin albums of all time in the US.

Singles:

-La Tortura (ft. Alejandro Sanz): the most internationally successful single off the album, reached #1 in three countries, #23 in the Billboard Hot 100 and got into the top 10 of 13 European countries. It won two Latin Grammys, a Billboard Music Award, three Latin Billboard Music Awards, an NRJ Award and a Latin American MTV Video Music Award.

-No (ft. Gustavo Cerati): the song features Argentinean musician Gustavo Cerati in background vocals and guitars. Shakira was a long-time Cerati fan and collaborated with him in various projects (if you haven't, listen to Día Especial from this album. Written by Cereati and a great song). 'No' was a #1 single in five countries and #2 in Italy, it is arguably one of Shakira's best ballads to date.

-Día de Enero: dedicated to Shakira's then-boyfriend and professional leech Antonio de la Rúa, who doesn't deserve to have such a great album dedicated to him. Día de Enero managed to get four #1 (Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Top 40 Latino), as well as a #3 in Chile and a #4 in Peru.

-Las de la Intuición: the last single, it became # 1 in Spain, #6 in the Netherlands and Romania and #9 in Russia, as well as charting in other countries. It also had an English version, "Pure Intuition," but I never remember it exists.
