??????????? literally what are you talking about, iris made it very clear to barry that she did not want/was not ready for a relationship with him and tried to get him to go out with other girls. she did not try to destroy his relationship with linda, barry did that all on his own. the only person in that love triangle who played it up was barry, and to a lesser degree eddie. iris was always clear on where she stood about it.
I never said Barry was a perfect character, but he was also always clear about his feelings for her. Idk, regardless of it being just a tv character I'm very annoyed when someone just wants to be friends with another person who's clearly in love with them but keeps that person close anyone. Even if they're best friends/grew up together. It seems selfish and I tend to dislike people who kind lead others on even when there's no chance of anything happening, and that was the kind of feeling Iris gave me throughout this season.
barry didn't tell iris his feelings for her tho, not for awhile, and by that time she was with eddie. like... they spend a lot of time on this fact, that iris and barry would probably be together if barry had made his move before eddie did. he didn't, and iris wasn't about to step out on a relationship she'd been committed to for nearly a year when barry finally got up the nerve to say something to her. but they have a close relationship that spans years and years and is obviously extremely important to both of them, even without the romantic aspect, so of course they were going to stay close. barry was the one who acted selfishly in that he kept trying to get iris to want him/love him/be with him, even after she told him no, she was with eddie. and if that hurts him, that's on him, not iris. at no point did she lead him on, he lead himself on. repeatedly.
yes he was wrong to confess his feelings when he did but he woke up from a coma to find out he had a superpower and the girl he loved was with someone else, that's messed up. She said she didn't want him but they had a dubious relationship all along, and even after he told her that it seemed like she didn't want to be with him or wanted to be with someone else she still never kept her distance. No matter how close they are, that's an awful thing to do, and I would completely agree that this was only Barry's fault if he had kept it to himself, but he told her about it and she still acted that way. Also, she kept asking advice about her relationship with Eddie to someone she knew had feelings for her, that's a shitty thing to do, especially when you claim that person is a friend. Like I said, Barry is also a flawed character but we're supposed to believe he acted like he did out of love, Iris had no excuse for acting the way she did. Another thing that made me dislike her was how she kept bugging Eddie to tell her about his secret (when he found out about Barry) and when he told her it was work-related she insisted and didn't speak to him. Like, I work in a place with all sorts of awful stories everyday (the type a detective would hear) and sometimes I don't feel like sharing them with people I care because they're terrible and they don't need to hear it. She seemed unreasonable, especially when her father is a cop and she would know better. But then you could argue that she knew Eddie was lying etc but the thing is: we never saw her having these doubts or had any clie of how their relationship REALLY worked. That's why I think she was poorly written and as a character made not much of a difference in the season, and then by episode 22 we're supposed to believe she's the reason why Barry can do the things he does just because he says so. The show overall is pretty flawed but the major flaw imo is how Iris is supposed to be so important and never truly was.
But people like to believe the reason a lot of people don't like is because they're ship snowbarry or are racist so let it be.
Dude, these are all valid points but you're not gonna have a reasonable discussion about it considering that a lot of Iris haters ARE in fact racists and it's a lot of shit to drag through. In addition this show is a hit which has for some reason rendered everyone completely incapable of remembering it's still CW and they will without fail choose the lowest fucking common denominator of romance tropes every time. Of COURSE Iris will display awkward ex tendencies, of COURSE Barry will be an asshole nice guy when needed, of COURSE they'd think it's a great idea to double date and shit all over their current SOs. Every relationship on this and Arrow is dumbass fluff and it shouldn't matter because it ain't Breaking Bad.

This is a solid point. I love Iris but I don't like WestAllen, or SnowBarry to be clear, because of that. Eddie was a great boyfriend to Iris and he truly treated her like an adult and equal. I loved how devastated he was that he couldn't be honest with her and how upset he was that everyone was keep Barry's secret from her. I know they did it to ~protect Iris but to me that showed that Eddie had way more faith in her as a person than the rest of them.
And the way Barry kept dicking Eddie by trying to get with Iris was awful and nagl.
Eddie had his wrongs but overall he was a really good character who was also USEFUL. One of my problems with Iris is that the plot could do without her. Like if Barry's motivations were solely his mom's death/dad in prison it would be enough, but then we get to the last episode and they try to convince us that Iris is so important to Barry that he can only get out of bed in the morning because of her and be Flash because of her, when none of that was ever alluded before.
