ONTD Original: 10 of the best gay club anthems from the 90s

The 90s were an incredible time for dance music, in particular gay club hits. 90s gay club anthems were all about divas with big voices, high energy beats, and heartbreak! Let's revisit some of the biggest, most enduring gay club hits of the 90s by looking back at the first half of the 90s, the producers who helped shape the sound, and the three divas whose voices ruled the dancefloor!

The Early 90s

Eurodance and house were huge during the first half of the 90s. Songs usually featured vocalists whose names you didn't know, but you knew all the words to their songs. Melanie Thornton, the singer in La Bouche, tragically passed away in 2001 in a plane crash. Crystal Waters had two huge hits, but she was never able to replicate the success of "100% Pure Love" and "Gypsy Woman."

La Bouche - Be My Lover

Culture Beat - Mr. Vain

Crystal Waters - 100% Pure Love

20 Fingers - Lick It

Thunderpuss and Hex Hector

In the 90s, if your track got remixed by Thunderpuss or Hex Hector, it was guaranteed to become a gay club hit. Thunderpuss (Chris Cox & Barry Harris) and Hex Hector remixed pretty much everyone in the 90s, and their remixes even got played on Top 40 radio. Here are three of the most memorable Thunderpuss and Hex Hector productions.

Deborah Cox - Nobody's Supposed to Be Here (Hex Hector Radio Edit)

Whitney Houston - It's Not Right But It's Okay (Thunderpuss Radio Edit)

Amber, Ultra Naté, and Jocelyn Enriquez

Amber and Ultra Naté were two of the most popular dance divas during the 90s. Along with Jocelyn Enriquez, all three of them ruled the gay clubs. In 1998, they all teamed up to record a cover of the song "If You Could Read My Mind" for the flop movie 54.

Amber - Sexual (Li Da Di) (Thunderpuss Radio Edit)

Ultra Naté - Free

Jocelyn Enriquez - Do You Miss Me

Stars on 45 - If You Could Read My Mind
