Foxx called Power 105's The Breakfast Club and confirmed that the biopic was indeed happening with him playing Tyson. Explaining the surreal meeting to Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee, Foxx was clearly excited about the film.
"I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson," he said. "So, I'm going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I'm on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time."
He then went on to reveal that acclaimed director Martin Scorsese will be spearheading the film: "This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull," Foxx said. The actor said he's gained the weight and has known the boxer since Foxx was about 21.
Neither Scorsese nor Paramount have confirmed the news just yet.
