MTV's "Rebel Music" Will Feature Native Americans & Will Premiere On Facebook

Season 2 features artists and activists from Iran, Myanmar, Venezuela, Native America, Turkey and Senegal.

The second season opener titled, Rebel Music: Native America follows Frank Waln, Inez Jasper, Nataanii Means and Mike Clifford, Native American musicians turned activists who have made it their mission to shed light on issues plaguing indigenous people.

Subsequent episodes of Rebel Music will feature stories from Myanmar, Senegal, Turkey and Venezuela. Native American filmmaker Billy Luther co-directed the episode alongside executive producers and developers for the entire season Nusrat Durrani, David Sable and Fairey.

The rest of the series will become available online, and episodes from the second season will be accompanied by lesson plans with a teacher’s guide and background history to bring these topics into the classroom.

In a first for the TV channel, MTV will debut the first episode of doc film series Rebel Music's second season through its Facebook page on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. PT. The six-part series to later be released on MTV2, EPIX2, Centric and mtvU days after the Facebook premiere, each 30-minute episode will showcase youth protest movements throughout the world.
