Per KPopStarz (who got their story from Entertainment Weekly), beloved ONTD fave Judith Rumelt (aka Cassandra Clare) will be releasing a new ebook series called "Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy," which focuses on the flop Simon Lewis as he navigates the training process to become a Shadowhunter.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which was quoted by KPopStarz, Cassie talks about how hard it was to let the characters go, which is a laugh because we know that she's not letting these characters go, ever. Remember that The Mortal Instruments started out as three-book trilogy. That was expanded to six books, plus a "The Infernal Devices" spin-off trilogy, plus an upcoming "The Dark Artifices" spin-off trilogy, plus a set of 10 novellas focusing on Magnus Bane. So that's 3 books -> 22 books, not including the stuff that's going to be in "Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy."
The first ebook in "Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy" will be released on February 17. On the bright side, there's always a chance that the apocalypse could happen and spare us all.
To make up for this life-ruining news, here's a picture of an albino bat:
