On the heels of a successful theater run for dystopian film “The Maze Runner”, news has been pouring in about the anticipated sequel already in the works. Actors Rosa Salazar and Jacob Lofland are the latest to join the cast of “The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The sequel follows those young characters who have escaped the maze and now face a new set of challenges. The newcomers join Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, reprising their roles from the first film. Salazar is set to play Brenda, who ends up paired with Thomas (O’Brien) and Lofland will portray Aris Jones, who has a connection to the maze and its creation. “Game of Thrones” actor Aidan Gillen was recently cast as a villain for the film.
“The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials” has a release date of September 18, 2015.
Salazar has appeared on shows “Parenthood” and “American Horror Story”. She has a role in upcoming “Divergent” sequel “Insurgent”. Lofland made his debut in “Mud” alongside Matthew McConaughey and has since appeared on on television’s “Justified”.
