Marvel fans have anxiously awaited a first look at Netflix’s ‘Daredevil‘ series to arrive at New York Comic-Con 2014, but if a new report is to be believed, the superhero empire may already have found its live-action ‘Luke Cage‘ as well. ‘Psych‘ and ‘West Wing‘ star Dulé Hill has reportedly won the part of Marvel’s comic book hero for hire, while both ‘Jessica Jones‘ and ‘Iron Fist‘ may soon be announced as well.
Take this one with a healthy dose of skepticism for the moment,
but ComicBookMovie claims that Hill will take the title role of Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage,’ despite the fact that the iconic African-American superhero remains scheduled as the last of Marvel’s four Netflix shows before the ‘Defenders‘ crossover miniseries. The report also claims that Marvel’s NYCC 2014 ‘Daredevil’ panel will introduce the actors behind all four heroes onstage, including ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Iron Fist,’ much like the initial ‘Avengers‘ Comic-Con panel brought its actors together.
It’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility, and the CBM report also points out that Dulé Hill’s dramatic and comedic chops fall well in line with Marvel’s usual M.O. of letting an actor’s physical stature take a backseat to character, as with Chris Pratt in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ Additionally, it might make sense for Marvel to have locked down its four Netflix leads for chemistry’s sake, even as only ‘Jessica Jones’ has entered any phase of production beyond ‘Daredevil,’ tapping Melissa Rosenberg to write and executive produce.
Also worth mentioning is that while his role in the ‘Thor‘ franchise as Heimdall might more or less have put him out of the running, fan-favorite Idris Elba recently suggested in a Reddit AMA that the role of Luke Cage had been cast, to his knowledge. And for anyone wondering, fellow fan-favorite casting choice Isaiah Mustafa also recently dispelled any notion that he’d won the part.
We’ll keep an eye on this one for the moment, especially given it’s late Wednesday / early Thursday arrival, but what do you think? Could you see ‘Psych”s Dulé Hill as Marvel’s Netflix ‘Luke Cage,’ one-time Power-Man? Who would you like to see join Charlie Cox as Marvel’s Netflix ‘Defenders?’

I'm ok with this. It'll be ok.
Though not if it means James Roday as Danny Rand
