The purging of all things Ray Rice has moved into the virtual world with EA Sports announcing it will remove the disgraced ex-Ravens running back from its Madden NFL 15 video game.
Rice was cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL on Monday after video emerged of him knocking then-fiancée Janay Palmer out unconscious with a vicious punch to the face.
"With Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension from the NFL, he will be removed from Madden NFL 15," Electronic Arts said in a statement Tuesday.
"The roster change will take place by this Friday."
The fallout against Rice has been severe and swift in the hours since TMZ released grainy footage of him cold-cocking Palmer in a hotel elevator. In addition to the NFL ban, Rice’s alma mater, Rutgers, has removed him from all promotional videos, including its “Knights in the NFL” list.
