In the new movie “This Is Where I Leave You,” Corey Stoll plays the eldest brother in a messed-up family sitting shiva for the patriarch’s death. In the film, Stoll’s character’s primary plot line is that he and his wife are having difficulties conceiving.
It’s a far cry from the bestselling book by Jonathan Tropper, in which the character has a major arc involving resentment over an old injury. But at GQ’s fall fashion fête Tuesday night at The Ides at Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, Stoll brushed it off.
“Well, you know, it’s a novel, you want everything in there,” he said. “Every actor wants their whole story.”
Even though he didn’t get that, he did get to work alongside a star-studded cast that includes Jane Fonda, Jason Bateman and Tina Fey — and he raved over one actress in particular.
“Tina Fey is a singular human being,” he said. “She’s really maybe the funniest person I ever met.”
