Jay Z, No Doubt, Carrie Underwood to headline Global Citizen Festival

This year’s free Global Citizen Festival is once again bringing serious heat to shine a light on poverty around the planet. The September 27 gig on the Great Law in New York’s Central Park will include headliner Jay Z, along with fun., Carrie Underwood, the Roots, Tiësto and No Doubt.

“Change only takes place when and where there is action,” Jigga said in a statement from the Global Poverty Project about the third-annual show. “I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible.”

The event will coincide with the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and support the parent organization’s goal of helping to stamp out world poverty by 2030. This year’s focus is on children and young people living in extreme poverty.

Last year’s show was headlined by Alicia Keys, Kings of Leon, John Mayer and Stevie Wonder.

You can win one of the 48,000 free tickets by earning points taking action on the Global Citizen website. Each action equals a certain number of points, with eight points needed to win passes. There will be five drawings over the summer and you can enter up to six times.
