DreamWorks Animation Sets Release Dates for a Plethora of Sequels

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is getting ready for an excellent weekend, and in the buzz and excitement surrounding the film DreamWorks Animation has released a slew of release dates for their upcoming sequels and adaptations.

The list includes some highly anticipated films, like Kung Fu Panda 3, How to Train Your Dragon 3, and Madagascar 4.

What's interesting about DreamWorks is although the company doesn't soar at the box office domestically, their films do incredibly well worldwide. Take The Croods last year. The film did moderately well at $187 million domestic, but took the globe by storm, generating $587 million worldwide. Nearly 70% of the movie's revenue came from foreign countries. This also goes for movies like Puss in Boots (73% from foreign revenue) and Kung Fu Panda 2 (75% from foreign revenue).

Compare that to Pixar or Disney. Monsters University and Frozen last year made about 65% of their profits from foreign markets. Although it doesn't seem like much, if you think about it in fractions (1/3 from domestic revenue versus 1/4) it's significantly different.

- Kung Fu Panda 3: December 23, 2015
- How to Train Your Dragon 3: June 17, 2016
- Captain Underpants: January 13, 2017
- The Croods 2: November 3, 2017
- Madagascar 4: May 18, 2018
- Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves: November 2, 2018

Which movie are you most excited to see, if any at all?
