During an appearance on Chelsea Lately on Thursday, the 27-year-old revealed she's been drinking wine since she was a toddler. Lea was promoting her new book Brunette Ambition which is about living well, eating healthy and taking care of yourself, but in it she also admits to growing up drinking at an early age, a fact that host Chelsea Handler was quite curious about.
'I'm Italian, so it was like, at the dinner table it would be Pellegrino, a jug of soda, and a huge thing of wine,' said the Glee star. 'So, everyone was just drinking wine, like it was part of, like, you know, what you would have along with your dinner.' But she told Chelsea how since this wasn't the norm everywhere it lead to some awkward moments in high school.
'Growing up, I'd be having dinner with my boyfriend and his parents,' explained the Louder singer. 'And I'd be like, 'Where's the wine? Pass the wine.' At like 17, and they were like, 'This girl's crazy.'
While she may have had started early, the brunette beauty never wanted to get drunk. 'When they make it so you can have it, then you don't want it,' said the actress. 'It's when they're like, 'You can't have this,' kids are like, 'We gotta get that booze.'
