JAMES MASLOW & Peta Murgatroyd!
The first couple put through to the finals is Meryl and Maks, obviously. Next, Amy and Derek.
And, wow, wow, James and Peta are eliminated. Are you kidding me?! Is DJ Tanner stuffing ballot boxes?! What is happening???
James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd
James and Peta danced a crrrazy good freestyle. Bruno Tonioli compared it to a post-apocalyptic, Hunger Games-style dance
Meryl Davis & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Meryl & Maks’ freestyle was very contemporary and very emotional. In fact, their performance brought Carrie Ann to tears! She even told them that they should just “get married already — we’re all thinking it!” Hear, hear, Carrie Ann. Perfect 10s for these two again; 30/30.
Oh my gosh, Full House castmembers were taped talking about Candace’s DWTS skills, including Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin! The greatest. Anyway, this disco freestyle was a bit awkward. It started off looking like something Carlton Banks would have choreographed and, I’m sorry to say, I feel like Candace may have been just shy of sending Mark back to the hospital. Carrie Ann gave her credit for just going for all of the lifts with gusto and for enjoying herself, but she also gave her flack for not connecting with the music. 24/30! Whomp.
Some Irrelevant Woman & Derek Hough
Amy and Derek took a similar approach to Meryl and Maks — they danced a contemporary freestyle, but it was a lot more lighthearted instead of a totally gut-wrenching experience. Just when you thought the dance couldn’t get any better, Amy was lifted into the air on a rope, one-handed, as Derek spun her around. It was pretty incredible to watch – and scary! As Bruno put it, Amy once again “redefined what is possible.” Shockingly, they received a 29/30 – Len Goodman gave them the 9! That’s messed up
