Chris Hemsworth has reportedly been offered a leading role in Warner Bros' reboot of the Lethal Weapon franchise.
The Thor: The Dark World star is being eyed for the action film, which will be overseen by original producer Joel Silver.
According to Tracking Board, the project is titled Lionhunters and falls between being a remake and a sequel to Lethal Weapon 4.
The storyline will supposedly revolve around the son of an older cop (thought to be Mel Gibson's character Riggs) and his desire to join the police force.
Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is attached to make the film, while Gangster Squad's Will Beall is working on the script.
It is unclear if original stars Gibson and Danny Glover, or director Richard Donner and screenwriter Shane Black, will have any involvement in the rebooted series.
Lethal Weapon debuted in cinemas in 1987 and spawned three sequels, the last of which was released in 1998. The series earned more than $950 million at the worldwide box office.
hope he turns it down. if he were to do an unnecessary 80s remake, I'd prefer it be Point Break.
