Fendi don't do things by halves. So, to celebrate the opening of its New Bond Street store in London, the Italian fashion house has pulled in some of the most fabulous women in the world to personalise one of the brand's most iconic pieces, the Peekaboo handbag.
Tracey Emin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomie Harris, Cara Delevingne, Jerry Hall, Georgia-May Jagger, architect Zaha Hadid, fashion illustrator Tanya Ling, Adele and journalist Kate Adie (we told you they were fabulous, didn't we?) have all been given free reign on their own one-off Peekaboo bag (the Peekaboo was first created for the SS09 collection).
The ultra-customised bags (we think Adele's studded offering complete with multi-coloured studs is our favourite) will be on display in Fendi's new flagship store but will also auctioned in aid of London and Bristol-based children's charity Kids Company.
'Growing up in a family of strong and pioneering females, I am excited that such iconic women, leaders in their own fields, have been involved in this project, on this iconic Fendi bag. This project will not only allow Fendi to work with these incredible women, but also to raise valuable funds for Kids Company and help support their important work,' said Silvia Venturini Fendi.
The online auction will open for bidding on Thursday 1 May at 6pm (today) and will close on Friday 30 May at 6pm. Visit the online aution site www.fendi.com/peekaboo-auction.
Get your credit cards ready, ladies. All in the name of charity, of course.
