'Broad City' going on tour (dates) + castmembers performing in NYC

Unless you've been living under a rock that doesn't have a great grasp of pop culture, you've probably heard of Broad City, the fantastic webseries-TV hit that is wrapping up its first season on Comedy Central this year. The stars of the show, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, are veterans of the New York comedy scene
and truly incorporate the city as a "character" without resorting to the same hackneyed New York stereotypes. In one episode, for instance, Abbi's date abandons her out of a very real fear of the disgusting Penn Station.
If you want to experience Broad City in person, you're in luck -- the cast is playing shows all over NYC in the next few months! First, cast member Phoebe Robinson is performing in a benefit for comedian Liza Dye, who was recently injured when she fell onto subway tracks. The show is at Littlefield on March 27 and also features Ali Wong (@midnight), Jermaine Fowler (Guy Code), Murderfist, Michelle Wolf (Late Night with Seth Meyers), Sue Smith (Best Week Ever), Aparna Nancherla (Conan), & hosts Charla Lauriston and Justin Perez. Tickets are on sale now.
In addition, Abbi and Ilana are performing at UCB Chelsea on April 2 for their monthly "Broad City Live" show. Tickets are sold out, but try to get in off the stand-by line -- it's worth it! Finally, Abbi and Ilana are touring nationally to support their new show. Although the tour was initially postponed so they could write the second season of Broad City, it's been rescheduled for the fall, and they're playing The Bell House on December 13. The show is also unfortunately sold out, but if you're really itching to see the duo, catch them at another date on their month-long tour. Find all tour dates below..

i don't know anything about girls, but i recommend broad city wholeheartedly. it's the best new comedy of the year, in my opinion.

broad city is hilarious but no to the girls comparison.

It's hilarious but completely unlike Girls. Broad City is a straight up comedy while Girls is much more of a drama with comedic elements imo.

it is. girls is more of a dramedy, this is really really funny.

I don't know much about Girls, but they're alike in that they're single white/Jewish young women in NYC. However Broad City is more straight up comedy, the cast is more diverse, and the characters are broke and hustling and sweet. If Girls is Kayne, Broad City is Wiz Khalifa.

i've seen the first 2 episodes and got so annoyed with the characters. should i continue? does it get better?

If you don't like the characters (or find them funny, anyway) I doubt you'd like the rest of the eps.

the show has been on a constant winning streak since episode four, so if you can get that far i'm pretty sure you'll love it.

I thought it was good from the start so if you don't like the characters so far, then probably no. They're not going to change that much with this being a surreal sitcom.

idk i didn't start to like it until 5 eps in because it's not the kind of humor im usually into but it grew on me.

Same, the actors were so unfunny and grating to me. The situations they got into wreaked of writers who have no actual life experience too. Def have no interest in this, surprised so many folks like it. Different strokes, i guess

At first, she was like, "meh" about the show to me, so then any interest I had plummeted, but she went on to watch it some more & said it got way better.

This is exactly the situation I'm in. The girl with the fringe is so shit and unfunny and I'm on the fence about the curly haired girl.

You definitely don't need to start with the webseries first. Just jump right into the show!

The webseries is great, although the budget is obviously minimal. It's perfect for a boring afternoon. Also the episode are like 1 to 5 minutes long so they fly by once you start them.

i can't wait to watch this. due to suggestions in another post, i've started watching harper's island. IT IS SO BAD BUT I CAN'T STOP.

It's so bad it's good. It was the perfect show for summer. I wish they would have continued it with new characters.

My favorite line of the series has been when Abbi said something like "That's it. I need to be an independent adult. I need to buy my own pot." lol. That episode was great. All the episodes are great. A+ female comedy show.
