How I Met Your Mother is ending, but Alyson Hannigan could very well be back on CBS next fall.
The actress has nabbed the female lead opposite actor-comedian-Marriage Ref host Tom Papa in More Time With Family, a multi-cam comedy that centers on a husband and father (Papa) making a career change to spend more time with his clan.
Hannigan will play Papa’s onscreen wife, Cindy.
Papa co-wrote the pilot script with ’Til Death duo Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, and all three will serve as EPs alongside Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Dave Becky and Josh Lieberman.
Former Party of Five orphan Neve Campbell is plotting a full-time TV comeback with a starring role in Guilt By Association, a TNT drama pilot co-written by O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark and Nashville showrunner Dee Johnson, TVLine has learned.
Possible) New Shows and Who’s Starring In Them
The prospective series centers on the working relationship between a gutsy Deputy District Attorney in the Special Trials Unit of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, a tough-as-nails female LAPD detective and a stylish female prosecutor.
Campbell, whose more recent TV credits have included a stint as Patrick Dempsey’s sister on Grey’s Anatomy and the Lifetime telepic An Amish Murder, is in talks to play the DA role.
Law & Order vet Elisabeth Rohm – who recently wrapped a guest arc on Beauty and the Beast – will play the detective, our sister site Deadline reports.
Matt Barr is continuing his long relationship with The CW, having now been cast by the network in their new drama pilot “Identity,” according to Deadline. “The Help” star Ahna O’Reilly was cast as the lead earlier this week.
From superstar producing duo Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, “Identity” will follow O’Reilly’s Mia, a young New Yorker whose world is turned upside down when she learns she needs an organ transplant. This leads her to a reunion with a half-brother (Barr) and a wealthy Southern family she never knew, made all the more complicated when she’s recruited by the CIA to investigate her newfound family, even as she grows closer to them.
David James Elliott is officially part of Fox’s damn family.
Elliott, best known as JAG‘s Cmdr. ‘Harm’ Rabb, will play Jane Kaczmarek’s character’s husband in Fox’s Here’s Your Damn Family comedy pilot, our sister site Deadline reports.
Elliott’s character, Mike, is a manly-man widower who marries Kaczmarek’s character and moves to her place with his three children… upsetting the cush life of her stunted, thirtysomething son, who still lives at home.
Peter DaCunha (Reign) and Brendan Meyer (the Canadian Mr. Young) also were cast as two of Mike’s kids.
