Octavia Spencer and Quvenzhane Wallis Book Roles In Russell Crowe Drama 'Fathers and Daughters'

Octavia Spencer and Quvenzhane Wallis have both joined the cast of the drama, Fathers and Daughters, which is based on a Black List script penned by Brad Desch.

The actresses will co-star in the film alongside Russell Crowe, Diane Kruger, Amanda Seyfried, and Aaron Paul, in what Variety calls "a love story between a father and daughter living 25 years apart in New York City."

Gabriele Muccino (Pursuit Of Happyness) is attached to direct the Voltage Pictures project, which is heading to the European Film Market in Berlin this month, to be sold.

Octavia Spencer will play the head of the psych clinic where Seyfried’s character counsels troubled children, while Quvenzhane Wallis will play a patient at the clinic who hasn’t spoken a word for a year, since her mother was killed.

Crowe will of course play the male lead, a novelist struggling with mental illness in 1988, while raising a 5-year-old daughter; and Seyfried will play the present-day adult daughter, now 30 years old, fighting her own demons from a troubled childhood.

The busy Spencer enters 2014 with Fruitvale Station in her recent past, as well as roles in Joon-ho Bong's upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiecer, as well as the James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman.

Meanwhile, Wallis, who had a minor role in 12 Years A Slave, can currently be seen in Maserati's Super Bowl 48 commercial, and will next appear as the title character in Sony’s remake of the musical Annie.
