Arctic Monkeys have scored their first ever Billboard Hot 100 hit as the band continue their latest North American tour.
"Do I Wanna Know" arrives at No 99, incredibly the first time the Alex Turner-fronted outfit have appeared on the countdown, despite all four of their studio albums having charted on the Billboard 200. The track hit a new sales peak in the States last week and has to date sold around 160,000 units there, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"Do I Wanna Know"'s US progress is also being powered by the strongest radio support there yet for the Domino act. It climbs 9-6 on Billboard's Rock airplay chart, while progressing 16-13 on Hot Rock Songs and remains at No 3 on the Alternative Songs chart.
The band's latest North American tour started in Vancouver in Canada with two dates on December 1 and 2 and has since moved across the border. It continues until December 14 when they play in Kansas City, then takes a Christmas break before resuming in Miami on January 30. It winds up in Minneapolis on February 14.
The Arctic Monkeys' Hot 100 breakthrough follows AM becoming their highest-charting album yet in the US, debuting and peaking at No 6. It moves back up 121-89 on the chart this week.
