Paltrow wins her battle with Vanity Fair after magazine reportedly ditches 'epic take-down' piece on the Oscar winning actress for 'softer' feature

She’s been raging a one woman war against Vanity Fair magazine for weeks but according to new reports Gwyneth Paltrow has triumphed over the publication.

The 41-year-old has been locked in a battle with Graydon Carter’s magazine since it revealed its intention to publish an 'epic takedown' of the actress following her refusal to cooperate with a planned cover story.

Now, after urging her A-list friends to boycott the magazine, insiders suggest Vanity Fair are now planning a much ‘softer’ piece on the Oscar winner.

Gwyneth has been staging something of a celebrity coup against the publication, with the actress composing a letter to her celebrity friends back in May urging them to boycott the magazine.

As well as taking offence to the planned expose on herself, the actress was said to be angered by 'unflattering' articles the magazine printed about Tom Cruise and her ex-fiancé Brad Pitt.

'Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine,' she wrote in her letter. 'If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline. Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again.'

It sounds like the campaign may have paid off as RadarOnline.com report that the famous magazine is planning to go lightly in their future article:

‘Whatever they wind up publishing, it’s going to be soft,’ a source claims. ‘Gwyneth’s campaign against the Vanity Fair article has apparently worked and she’s not as worried as she was three weeks ago’.

‘But the article is still coming out and she still refuses to participate in it.’

The threatened expose reportedly originally included a probe on the Seven actress’ friendship with Elle Macpherson’s billionaire husband Jeff Soffer.

Gwyneth, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, was forced to deny any 'romantic relationship' with the property developer – following claims Vanity Fair has explosive details on the pair.

According to Page Six, the magazine was planning to delve into their friendship after the two were spotted looking close at a Miami party in 2008.

The actress was also forced to deny that she asked her A-list pals to boycott Vanity Fair’s annual Oscars party next year in response to their ‘take-down’ piece, with a report from Radar claiming that , ‘she wants to shut their Oscar party down entirely.'

However the actress has vehemently denied the claims, with her representative telling Mail Online last month the allegations are 'completely false, Gwyneth has not asked anyone to not attend the party,' the 41-year-old's rep said.
