Tom Daley has opened up about his boyfriend, saying it was “love at first sight”.

The Olympic diver spoke about his sexuality in a YouTube video posted earlier this week (December 2), explaining that his life “changed massively” when he met his partner earlier this year.

Speaking on this Saturday’s The Jonathan Ross Show, 19-year-old Daley told the presenter that he was not sure if his now-boyfriend was gay when he approached him.

"It really was love at first sight, I’d never felt like anything like it before. We were at a party and I hadn’t even spoken to him all night,"
he explained.

"I didn’t know what to do or if he was gay at first. I made the first move, I typed ‘call me’ in his notes with a smiley face on this phone and the next day he texted. He makes me feel safe and happy, right now I couldn’t be happier.

"I’d never felt the feeling of love, it happened so quickly, I was completely overwhelmed by it to the point I can’t get him out of my head all the time. I’ve never had it before where I love someone and they love me just as much."

Daley, who is rumored to be in a serious relationship with the screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, went on to say that his lover helped him from wanting to quit diving.

"He saved me from not wanting to dive any more,"
he revealed.

"After the Olympics I was down in the dumps, as it’s such a hard way to get back into everything, but he gave me the extra motivation and made me work harder and that is exactly what I need."

Daley also told Ross that he is not interested in putting a label on his sexuality.

"Everything is all pretty new so I don’t see any point in putting a label on it - gay, bi, straight, any of those kind of labels,"
he added.

"All that I feel happy about at the moment is that I’m dating a guy and couldn’t be happier, it shouldn’t matter who I’m dating and I hope people can be happy for me."

The Jonathan Ross Show featuring Tom Daley will air on Saturday at 10.45pm on BBC One.

Former tennis pro Boris Becker earlier told Digital Spy that the 19-year-old is a “wonderful human being”.
