Olympic diver Tom Daley surprised fans yesterday when he came out and told the world via YouTube that he was dating a man.
Now, everyone is wondering who the lucky guy is. Well, we have the answer...and he's an Oscar winner!
Sources exclusively tell E! News that Daley has been dating Dustin Lance Black, the 39-year-old writer who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for Milk, the 2008 biopic about gay rights activist legend Harvey Milk (Sean Penn also won an Oscar for playing Milk in the flick).
Back in October, Daley and Black were spotted together for the first time, grabbing a snack at The Coffee Bean in Hollywood.
Yesterday, Daley posted a touching YouTube video in which he came out as dating a man.
"In spring this year, my life changed massively when I met someone and they made me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great," the 19-year-old said. "And that someone is a guy. It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that something like that could happen, but it wasn't until spring this year that something just clicked. It felt right and I thought, 'OK,' and my whole world changed there and then."
He added, "Of course, I still fancy girls, but right now I'm dating a guy and I couldn't be happier."
Black returned yesterday to L.A. from a trip to Russia to screen Milk at an LGBT film festival in St. Petersburg with the film's director Gus Van Sant and producers Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinx. Black is currently working on screenplays for Ron Howard's Under the Banner of Heaven and Barefoot Bandit for director Robert Zemeckis. He'll be in Daley's native U.K. in the spring to direct Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.
Daley is currently in London, where he posted on his Facebook earlier today, "I'd just like to say a massive thanks for all the support yesterday...it truly was overwhelming xx."
