With a flash of his Steely abs, Superman Henry Cavill has charmed Britain's female population to be named the sexiest man of 2013. The 30-year-old British actor came out top in a poll of 100 genetically blessed men, beating out the likes of Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston, aka Thor supervillain Loki, who are both known for their ardent band of followers.
Slipping down to second place is Twilight star Robert Pattinson who has claimed the top spot for the last four years. Australian actor Liam Hemsworth – star of The Hunger Games films and Miley Cyrus's former fiancé – completes the top three with Hiddleston and Cumberbatch claiming the fourth and fifth spots.
Other entrants into the top ten are Liam's brother, Chris – aka Thor – Luther star Idris Elba, teen pop star Justin Bieber and One Direction singer Harry Styles, whose fellow bandmates all also feature in the top 50.
Doctor Who appears to have cast a spell on female viewers too, with both Matt Smith and David Tennant appearing in the top 100, at 19 and 97 respectively. Other notable entrants include David Beckham (21), Ryan Gosling (32), Cumberbatch's Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman (79) and Homeland's Damian Lewis (94).
