The Simpsons has remembered Edna Krabappel actress Marcia Wallace in a new episode that saw Bart write ‘We’ll really miss you Mrs. K’.
Bart is given lines by his teacher during the opening titles of each episode, usually writing about an amusing misdemeanour.
He looked dejected as he wrote this touching message however, which aired in the US at the start of a new episode of the long-running cartoon on Sunday night.
The 1992 Emmy award-winning episode Bart the Lover was also shown, a critically-acclaimed episode that features Krabappel heavily.

Wallace died at the age of 70 last month due to complications from pneumonia, with Simpsons executive producer Al Jean describing it as a ‘terrible loss’.
While Mrs. K will be written out of the show, he said that she is not the character show bosses previously planned to kill off this year.
‘Earlier we had discussed a potential storyline in which a character passed away. This was not Marcia’s Edna Krabappel,’ Jean explained.
‘Marcia’s passing is unrelated and again, a terrible loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.’
