Award-winning fantasy writer, New York Time bestselling author, screenwriter, comic book writer extraordinaire, and library advocate Neil Gaiman will now add professor to his résumé. On Wednesday, Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, announced that Gaiman will join its theater and performance faculty in the spring semester as an arts professor. Gaiman will teach courses in the Division of the Arts and the Division of Languages and Literature for five years. His first course will be an advanced writing workshop "exploring the history of the fantastic, approaches to fantasy fiction, and the meaning of fantasy today," starting in the spring 2014 semester this February. The 52 year old writer, has just finished "his last U.S. signing tour" for his recent novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane and the children's book Fortunately, the Milk, and on Wednesday he released The Sandman: Overture. Born in Hampshire in the UK, Gaiman lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, about three hours away from Bard College, with his wife, singer-songwriter Amanda Palmer. He has won the Hugo, Ray Bradbury, and SFX awards for his works of prose, poetry, film, journalism, comics, song lyrics, and drama.
