Kelly Clarkson: 'I'm not a feminist'

Songstress Kelly Clarkson has opened up about her stance on women's rights and confessed that while she wouldn't declare herself a feminist, she loves being independent and also enjoys being looked after by her husband.

During a new interview with Time magazine, Clarkson admitted that she wouldn't consider herself a feminist but she is very proud of the fact that she has worked very hard to support herself since she was in her late teens:

"I wouldn’t say [I'm a] feminist, that’s too strong. I think when people hear feminist it’s just like, ‘Get out of my way I don’t need anyone'. I love that I’m being taken care of, and I have a man that’s an actual leader. I’m not a feminist in that sense… but I’ve worked really hard since I was 19, when I first auditioned for Idol."
