Youtuber Shameless Maya Does Blackface for Halloween

Homegirl did a "Tyrone Biggums Halloween Transformation" complete with blackface and theatrical gestures.

She gets called out in the vid comments.

Duha Awad: I don't get why you thought it was necessary to darken your skin colour? We could've easily got what character you were intending to create just by the costume and whitening your lips! I have seen a pic of a white person who did the same and he didn't use black face and everyone knew he was being Tyrone Biggums! This is very disappointing and it somewhat shows the lack of understanding on your part when it comes to these kind of issues.

Tee Talks: I guess what some fail to realize as they say "but shes part blck" is that even IF a black person did this its still considered blk face (pls watch Spike Lee's "Bamboozled"). This video is a tutorial given to an audience of likely non blacks...so, "i dont think my foundation is dark enough" "if you have a thin nose or small lips you can make them bigger like this" is a tutorial on blackface! Drugs/Guns were PLANTED in the blk community to cont. to destroy it so these images ARE THAT SERIOUS

Afrika Brown: I work in a professional setting and these depictions of Afro-American only add to the stereotypes- People fight daily to break down these stereotypes. I Know right now is funny and many can't see any harm in it but wait till you're presented this scenario outside of an entertainment (youtube video)- You might say is the person and her depiction. Please refer to the "doll" experiments video- The same way you feel changes need to happing at home w/ the kids in the videos, the same applies to what they see on the internet and on TV (they believe it). Its sad- I am done. We need to demand respect from others- We allow anything- When a black comedian recently made fun of natural hair texture she was spared from our dis-taste and disproval- Likewise - Shameless Maya should be put through the same scrutiny- Its sad and I am really done- Please demand more respect we've earned it.

If you darken your complexion to create a stereotyped caricature of a black person, yes it's blackface, even if you're black. Bye.
