Taylor Swift also made history at this year's Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. She was awarded the prestigious, Songwriter/Artist of the Year Award for the sixth time in seven years, more than any other artist.
"Breaking a record on any given day, anytime you get to say you broke a record for something is wonderful, and I'm just so thankful to the songwriters of Nashville voting for me six times in a row," said Swift. "It's crazy, it's generous, it's amazing."
Though she was hours away from flying to South Africa to film her scenes for the upcoming film, “The Giver,” Swift made a point to attend Sunday night’s ceremony.
“I get really excited to meet the writers, because I wouldn’t be able to do this as a career if I wasn’t a writer,” she said. “I don’t see a world where I would have been a singer without a writer. That’s definitely the most important part of what I do, and that’s where my biggest heroes lie, in the songwriting. I will probably have a few geek-out moments tonight.”
BLESS @ ronan and the moment i knew
also u can listen to the radio edit of the last time here but it's lame
Red, both the album and the tour, seem sexier than usual for you. Is it a reflection of your maturity?
It’s never been a priority for me to try to be sexy, and I think growing up is something you should do gradually. Some people do skip ahead, and that’s their choice, career wise, if they want to go down that path.
Do you feel there’s a difference between performing in a concert versus on an awards show?
uh-huh. If you slip and fall onstage at your concert, fans are going to laugh with you. They’ll put it on YouTube — but it’s going to be like a joke we’re all in on. They aren’t hoping I’ll fall. But at an awards show you know there are at least a few people thinking, Trip, trip, trip!
When you’re on tour how often do you get to see friends like Selena Gomez and Emma Stone?
Certain friends I see more often than others/ Some of them are on set shooting in France. Lena Dunham is good about staying in touch even though she’s shooting Girls, like, 40,000 hours a day. She can always figure out a couple hours to come visit.
Wait, how did you meet her?
On Twitter. (laughs) We follow each other, and she sent me a direct message, and it just became a mutual admiration society. I love what she does with her writing, and she listens to my music. It then became apparent that we are very similar. Very similar. I feel like I can tell her anything. She has the most open mind of any of my friends. If I made a huge mistake, I think Lena is the one I would tell.
Do you have any guy friends?
Yeah. I’m starting to do that now. Ed (Sheeran, her tour mate) and I are such good friends. I have never had such a close guy friend before. It’s always kind of creepy because with a guy friend-girl friend situation, it usually feels like one person always wants more. That’s not the case here.
Having guy friends is important. But I always give them a disclaimer: If you want to be friends with me, just know people are going to say we’re dating.
So what do you feel you’ve learned about love and relationships in the past few years?
You can get to know interesting people. And sometimes you know after two dates that you’re not the right fit, and you fall for it anyway. One thing I’ve learned that I’m proud of — drum roll, please — is when to walk away. I’ve had some short relationships because I know when to do that.
Has what you looked for in a man changed?
I think it needs to change. (laughs) I thnk I need to sit it out for a while so it can change. My friends tease me about the fact that if someone seems bad or shady or like they have a secret, I find them incredibly interesting. That’s just a phase I’ve been in lately. I don’t think this should be how I proceed in life. It’s important to be self-aware about those things because you don’t want to end up with that guy.
