This is a beautiful trailer for a beautiful film that I really hope many people see. An official UK trailer has debuted for Hirokazu Koreeda's Like Father, Like Son, the familial drama which won the Jury Prize at Cannes this year and is being remade by Steven Spielberg.
The film tells the story of a Japanese family that is told their son is not actually their son, and the hospital gave them the wrong child (another family has their real son and they have theirs, so they meet in hopes of "exchanging"). It's a very emotionally complex, but very heartfelt and heart-wrenching story that will make you cry. Please give this wonderful trailer a watch, this film needs the support.
Synopsis: Ryota has earned everything he has by his hard work, and believes nothing can stop him from pursuing his perfect life and living as a winner. Then one day, he and his wife, Midori, get an unexpected phone call from the hospital. Their 6-year-old son, Keita, is not their son - the hospital gave them the wrong baby. Ryota is forced to make a life-changing decision, to choose between "nature" and "nurture".
Like Father, Like Son is written & directed by highly acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda, of Maborosi, Without Memory, After Life, Distance, Nobody Knows, Still Walking and Air Doll previously. This first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and is also playing at the New York Film Festival now.
Like Father, Like Son will hit UK theaters on October 18th, and arrives in US theaters January early next year.
