Ben Stiller Turning "Reality Bites" Into NBC Comedy

Ben Stiller is turning Reality Bites into a comedy for NBC. The actor is developing his 1994 debut as a film director for the network, and is onboard as an executive producer through his Red Hour production company, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Helen Childress, who wrote the screenplay for the movie, will write the script for the revival. NBC has already given a script commitment to the show.

The new Reality Bites will be based on the film and follow Lelaina Pierce, a recent college graduate struggling to navigate the early Nineties in Houston. The show will see Lelaina document her and her friends' lives with a video camera as they try and find their ways romantically and professionally.

Reality Bites, which starred Stiller, Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke, helped define Generation X, and also made a big splash in music: the soundtrack featured a then-unsigned Lisa Loeb, who scored a Number One hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Stay (I Missed You)" – marking the first time an unsigned artist reached the top of the chart.

Well, this was my favorite movie when I was young; I'm fearful about this move. Thoughts on the revival ONTD?
