Reese Witherspoon may never forgive Chanel for having her wear the same dress to the Golden Globes this year that Kirsten Dunst wore three years earlier - but Dunst still loves the fashion house. A "remarkably well-behaved" Dunst showed up with a gaggle of girlfriends to the Chanel dinner for its new anti-aging crème, Sublimage, at the new Terrace Bar at Jeff Klein's Sunset Tower in L.A. She chatted amicably with Nicole Richie, Diane Kruger, Rachel Bilson, Lisa Eisner, Liz Goldwyn and Roman Coppola. Witherspoon didn't show. Nor did Richie's nemesis, Paris Hilton, who was not invited.
Riley Keough - granddaughter of Elvis Presley and daughter of Lisa Marie Presley - got physical at the Plumm on Wednesday night. Keough was helping her boyfriend, pop singer Ryan Cabrera, celebrate his 24th birthday when a flirtatious Elite model snatched the wool hat off Cabrera's head. As the model scurried off laughing, Keough chased her, jumped on her and grabbed the hat back. Good thing Cabrera's ex, Ashlee Simpson, didn't come after her performance for Victoria's Secret on Pier 54. But her dad, Joe Simpson, was there, because he's Cabrera's manager.
An overeager photographer desperate for shots of Grammy-winning R&B songbird Monica was clipped by a cab Wednesday afternoon. "We had just left a shoot for the teen magazines to promote Monica's new album, 'The Makings of Me,' " said her rep, Chris Chambers. "We were on Eighth Avenue, by 39th Street, and the photographer was in the street by Monica's SUV when he stepped too far out in the street and was hit." The lenser was not badly hurt but got a severe tongue-lashing from a shaken taxi driver. His aggression paid off. After Monica ran over to make sure he was OK, she gamely posed for pictures.
Hordes of teenage girls turned out to see Ashlee Simpson sing at the Victoria's Secret party celebrating its new Pink line at Pier 54 Wednesday night - but not Ashlee's sister, Jessica . Although she was in town, Jessica skipped the performance, sending word she "didn't want to steal Ashlee's spotlight." But we hear she wanted to avoid any chance of running into Vanessa Minnillo, the "ET" correspondent dating her ex, Nick Lachey. Minnillo had been thinking of stopping by. "At the last minute, Vanessa decided not to go," said our spy.
France's most famous sex kitten has her claws out for her homeland. Brigitte Bardot says she's so incensed over her country's permissiveness toward the slaughter of minks for fur coats that it "makes me ashamed to be French!" So what's she going to do about it? In a letter to Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson, the screen icon, 71, says: "To the contrary of Garbo, who left Sweden to finish her days in the United States, perhaps I will leave France to finish my days in Sweden."
We hear...That Rudy Giuliani donated a set of his own golf clubs (19 plus an autographed bag) to Sunday's yard sale to feed the hungry at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons. The clubs, expected to go for $5,000, will double in value if Giuliani runs for president . . . That Edward Norton's sister, Mary McBride, who has a day job running the global leadership program at Goldman Sachs, performs with her band next Wednesday at Joe's Pub.
