Benedict Cumberbatch: Likes his Watson? I Guess? This is a stupid article.
Benedict Cumberbatch wants to keep his Watson male
Unlike Jonny Lee Miller, Benedict Cumberbatch wants his Watson to remain a man

There is an all-male Twelfth Night in the West End, and an all-female Julius Caesar opening later this month, but Benedict Cumberbatch has no intention of following Jonny Lee Miller’s example and working with a female Dr Watson as his pal did in the series Elementary.
“After working with with Martin [Freeman], I could never imagine Watson being a woman,” the Sherlock star assures me at a party to celebrate Spencer Hart’s 10th anniversary at the Brompton Club . “Martin is established as Watson.
“I have seen the pilot and one other episode of Elementary – I think it’s great. It works with Lucy playing Watson and she's a good actress, but I don’t think you could do that here with Sherlock.”
Elementary, the US adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective series, sees Miller take the lead role while Dr Watson, who is conventionally a man, is portrayed by the former Charlie’s Angels actress, Lucy Liu.
“It’s not that I think it doesn’t work in the States, it’s just Martin has been established as Watson and you can’t change that.”

Obviously, obviously we couldn't switch out Martin Freeman for an actress and pretend nothing happened and I don't understand what the point of this article is, except as a way to somehow make it seem like Benedict thinks girl-Watson is a bad idea, which just...isn't saying at all. I'm waiting for it to get spun that way though.

All he's saying is that you couldn't do it with the show Sherlock because Watson has already been established as a hobbit.
This quote to me makes it seem like he's referring to the UK. I don't really get totally what he's saying but thats how it seems to me.
This whole Sherlock vs. Elementary thing is a bunch of nonsense hype being perpetuated by silly people on tumblr. Yes, Moffat is a moron who stuck his foot in his mouth with that Elementary quote. But ffs, people just need to get over it. Watch Sherlock, watch Elementary, watch both, watch neither, idgaf anymore.
I love Downey, I love Cumbermuffins (when he keeps his snake creature mouth shut), hell, I even love Rathbone; but nobody will ever top Jeremy Brett.
Either he's a dick or they may have set him up with that one.

I just think it's weird that he specified a woman specifically rather than just ANY PERSON replacing Martin. It's only understandable if he was directly asked about a woman replacing Martin. Which is the whole point of my comment.
Have a gif:
Tard will always be a grumpy old man in my mindThat's actually quite sweet I guess.
I don't get the point of this though.
Are people trying to push the Sherlock vs. Elementary thing again?
I'm pretty sure most people are over it now. They're only feeding the trolls and the disproportionately attached to fictional characters.
I must just be in the wrong, or in this case, right circle of relative sanity then because the only people I know who are kicking up a little about Elementary are doing so to troll someone.
inb4 wank; have some anti-Cumbermuffins
