X Factor flop flops with 6,731 copies sold

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke managed to shift just 6,700 copies of new album, Heartbreak On Hold.

It was the follow up to Alex’s debut Overcome, which sold over 132,000 copies in its first week back in 2009.

The double platinum album has gone on to sell over 800,000 copies in total, but it wasn’t enough to stop Alex leaving Simon Cowell’s Syco label last year.

This year, Alex returned on RCA, but new singles Elephant and Let It Go have struggled to get chart success.

After debuting at 33 in last week’s Top 40, Let It Go tumbled to number 74 yesterday with just over 4,000 sales.

And new album Heartbreak On Hold managed a mediocre debut at number 18, selling just 6,731 copies.
