Jessica Simpson Inks Weight Watchers Contract
One week after she welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson, Jessica Simpson gave her 5 million-plus Twitter followers an update on her baby and first-time motherhood -- and all is very, very well!
"I am so in love with baby Maxwell," the singer and Fashion Star mentor, 31, wrote Tuesday. "I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I've ever experienced."
Maxwell, her first child with fiance Eric Johnson, arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles the morning of May 1, and weighed a whopping 9 lbs., 13 oz.
And, as Simpson recuperated at the hospital after Maxwell's arrival, her maternal instincts kicked in -- and then some!
Nobody gave a fuck about Maxwell Drew
Following her very big pregnancy, Jessica Simpson has reportedly sold the first photos of baby Maxwell Johnson for a cool $800,000. The photos of her baby girl, her first child with fiance Eric Johnson, were bought by People magazine.
The deal isn’t quite as significant as other celeb baby photos, which have fetched over a million dollars. When Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins Emme and Max, she pocketed $6 million from People, while Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt famously received more than $11 million for the exclusive on their twins Knox and Vivienne.
NBC Renews 'Fashion Star' for Second Season
The reality competition, which marks a reunion with NBC and former entertainment co-chair, producer Ben Silverman, has aired to modest but steady ratings.
Created by Rick Ringbakk and produced by Ben Silverman's Electus, Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth at Magical Elves and 5x5 Media, the series follows designers competing for a chance to sell their wares in three retailers -- Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, H&M -- which each have a presence at the buyers' table. Each episodes' winning designs are available online and in retailers immediately following their air date.
Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos serve as mentors and judges, with Elle Macpherson playing both host and EP.
Fashion Star premiered in March to 4.55 million total viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49. It grew to a 1.8 in its second week, though subsequent airing have found it averaging closer to a 1.5. It's most recent episode, displaced to 8 p.m. for the two-hour Voice finale, was a series low.

Inside Jessica Simpson’s ‘Bohemian’ Nursery
When Jessica Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson asked Rachel Ashwell of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture to design their daughter’s nursery a few months before Maxwell Drew arrived, the couple had a very clear vision in mind.
“Jessica is very pretty and feminine, but she didn’t want this to be over-the-top frilly,” Ashwell tells PEOPLE. “The words she used were ‘gypsy’ and ‘bohemian,’ so we brought in lavenders and mauves with a bit of pink and aqua.”
On one wall, Ashwell hung vintage butterfly wallpaper that “definitely set the tone,” and filled the room with luxe furniture from her boutiques. As a complement, the designer scoured flea markets to find vintage pieces that she converted into shelving units — and even a custom changing table, which she made by screwing a changing table top to a dresser.
One reason the experience was so satisfying was because Simpson, 31, and Johnson, 32, completely shared her vision, and loved nearly every idea she proposed — so much so that they asked her to design the rest of their home for them as well.
“They were probably the most un-neurotic people I’ve ever known,” says Ashwell. “Jessica wanted [the nursery] be cozy and cute, and she was very respectful of Eric, asking, ‘Do you like this?’ And he was nicely opinionated.”
“I found being around them very inspiring to think, ‘Wow, [this is] a real collaborative vision,’” continues Ashwell. “I even wrote them a little note saying, ‘It’s been such a privilege to be part of making your home for you, because I know it’s going to be a house of substance.’”
