Ryan Seacrest took time off from his busy schedule to visit Saturday Night Live for the first time over the weekend. Ryan sat floor level alongside producer Lorne Michaels as football legend Eli Manning hilariously hosted and our favorite Barbadian, Rihanna, performed “Birthday Cake,” “Talk That Talk,” and “Where Have You Been?”
While backstage, Ryan was approached by Sacha Baron Cohen’s wife Isla Fisher who apologized on behalf of her husband. However, before Ryan could fully respond to the British actress who else would appear but “The Dictator” himself! Ryan explains:
“I didn’t realize that ‘The Dictator’ was doing a walk on cameo [on SNL]! He comes off stage and comes over to me. He breaks character and says, ‘Sorry about the Oscars. It wasn’t personal.’ He was very, very apologetic and genuine. He was still wearing “The Dictator” stuff so it was strangely ironic, but then he started to tell me how it all went down!”
Why did “The Dictator” target Ryan to begin with? “Originally they were going to spill whatever was in that urn on George Clooney! He [Sacha] said, ‘We were going to do it on George Clooney, and then someone decided that it wasn’t a great idea because he was up for a lot of nominations. It was big night for him that night.’ Then they somehow spun ‘The Wheel of Tragedy’ and it ended on my name. It must have been a ten minute conversation.”
Listen to the entire break to hear the sage advice Lorne Michaels gave to Ryan while on set.
