The worst possible news: Sherlock won't return in 2012
Sherlock executive producer Sue Vertue has dismissed suggestions apparently made by husband Steven Moffat that the programme will return in 2012.
The showrunner was supposed to have said on Friday (January 20) that a third series of the BBC drama - which concluded last Sunday (January 15) - would air later this year.
Moffat also apparently claimed that scenes showing how Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) survived his rooftop plummet in series two finale 'The Reichenbach Fall' had already been filmed.
In response to the comments, Vertue has taken to Twitter and clarified that a 2012 Sherlockreturn is "sadly unlikely".
"Sorry to be a killjoy but @steven_moffat didn't actually mean S3 of #sherlock would tx before end of year," she wrote. "I think that is sadly unlikely."
Moffat has, however, said that fans will not have to wait "that long" for the next series of Sherlock.
He confirmed this week that a third run of the show had been secretly commissioned along with its second last year.

Plus British TV isn't like American seasons
Just rewatch Season 1 and 2 of Sherlock and listen to the 20 hours of Audiobooks I have on him
His voice soothes my soul tbh and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll pay you in love and good thoughts :D
I'm fine with 2013 if that is it. I want to wait a little bit of time to build up that anticipation. Plus, if any fandom can keep themselves going until then, it is Sherlock.
Re:
THIS
though I doubt Freeman will. Considering he was ready to turn down The Hobbit if he wasn't able to film Sherlock.
perfect
Or me...I forgot every time it was on and eventually got to it
however crap some of it may be
then rewatch them again
That's the only reason I can think it would happen. And has been said before, quality over quantity, etc...
I guess the difference is . . . the BBC is public television and HBO/Showtime are not. XD
I think the only showrunner I know who has that sort of absolute control and creative output in America is probably Aaron Sorkin.
