Douglas Booth, who starred in Great Expectations, has been given a personal trainer to prepare for his love scenes in the film Romeo and Juliet with Hailee Steinfeld, 15
There has been much excitement about Douglas Booth’s relationship with Vanessa Kirby, his co-star in the television adaptation of Great Expectations. The actor appears, however, to be just as impressed by Hailee Steinfeld, 15, who stars opposite him in a forthcoming film version of Romeo and Juliet.
“We first saw each other at the Met Ball in New York,” the 19-year-old actor tells Mandrake. “Our eyes met across the room. It was surreal, like something out of the play – life imitating art.”
The film, which has a screenplay by Julian Fellowes and is directed by Carlo Carlei, is likely to be controversial because of Steinfeld’s age. “Doing sex scenes doesn’t bother me,” Booth says. “I’m comfortable in my own skin and they’re giving me a personal trainer to get in shape, so I’m not going to worry about it. I know Carlo and it will all be done really tastefully.”
He adds: “I think it’s only right that the leads are being played by young actors. After all, in the play they are young – it’s about first love. Hailee is young, but I know, from my own experiences too, that love can hit you at any age, so it is right. When you meet Hailee, you don’t think about her age – she’s an amazing actress.”
What an informative and non-creepy article. I ship it tbh.
