Charice’s father stabbed to death

Ricky Pempengco, father of international singing sensation Charice Pempengco, was stabbed to death last Monday night, October 31.

The incident happened along A. Bonifacio Road, Barangay Laram, San Pedro, Laguna, where Ricky was having a drinking session, a report on the ABS-CBN morning program "Umagang Kay Ganda" said on Tuesday, November 1. He left to buy a cigarette when the suspect, whom local police identified as Angel Capili, Jr., approached him.

The suspect stabbed Ricky with an ice pick. According to the report, Ricky fled but the suspect returned and stabbed him again.

The suspect quickly left the scene. Ricky’s drinking buddies didn’t help him because they were afraid the suspect would hurt them.

Ricky and the suspect had a fight in 2005, the report added.

“Back at 2005, the victim had pushed the suspect. I guess that's why the suspect came back,” a policeman said in an interview with “UKG.”

Separated

Ricky was separated from his wife Raquel and their two children many years ago. Raquel, a victim of domestic violence, left Ricky and brought Charice and her younger brother with her to search for a better life.

According to abs-cbnnews.com, Raquel was shocked by tragedy. Charice is currently in Jakarta for a concert with David Foster.

Raquel said she and Ricky have lost touch a long time ago.

"We hadn't talked to each other so we aren't connected in anyway whatsoever," she told abs-cbnnews.com.

'It still hurts'

She added that she has forgiven her husband.

"The reason why it still hurts, and the reason why there is still love is because he is the father of my children," Raquel added.

Charice, on the other hand, expressed her feelings over her dad’s death on Twitter.

“I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all.”

Charice said on her Twitter that she was with someone yesterday who looked like her father, which could also be his form of premonition.

"Last night, I was with someone and told him that he looked a lot like my daddy. I had no idea-- that might have been his way of making his presence felt," she said.

"I want you all to know that we had a very good relationship before all the mess began. When I was a kid, he used to always tell me behind my mom's back that he wanted for me to become a soldier because he said I was brave. I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my Dad after all," Charice added.

In an interview with “Umagang Kay Ganda” today, Ricky’s sister expressed her thoughts saying that Charice’s family might now be happy because of her brother’s death.

"I bet they're glad my brother is gone," Ricky’s sister said.

Charice lashes back at father's siblings

Charice, meanwhile, expressed her resentment.

"To my father's siblings, you have no right to tell me or even predict what I am feeling. Who are you to say that I am happy for my OWN FATHER'S DEATH? You are merely a sibling while I am his DAUGHTER," she tweeted.

"If you remember, YOU WERE THE ONES WHO TOLD ME TO KEEP AWAY FROM MY FATHER. You even told me not to carry his last name. Mommy never forbade us to visit our daddy, BUT YOU NEVER LET US. You have no respect FOR HIS FAMILY to say such things now! Instead of fixing the problem, you're making things worse! ," Charice said on Twitter.

Charice shared that she admits feeling resentful towards her father before, but she didn’t disown him. She added that she is not afraid expressing her feelings, especially to those who don’t have respect.

"I know I was mad at him! But I never said I rejected him! I've been quiet with all the scandals you've created, but even after my father's death, YOU'RE STILL THE SAME. I am not afraid. Especially to those who have no respect," Charice said.

Charice is slated to do a concert in Singapore for “David Foster and Friends Concert Tour,” but due to the tragedy, she has canceled her appearance and apologized to her Singapore fans.

“I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year,” Charice said.
