AUSTRALIAN model-turned-actor Gemma Ward has bagged her first major film role since 2008's The Black Balloon, after being added to the ever-increasing cast of Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation.
Ward, quiet on the career front since the death of her former beau Heath Ledger three years ago, will have a "significant" part in The Great Gatsby, which begins shooting in Sydney next week.
Aside from a small role in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides -- in which she played Tamara, Queen of the Mermaids -- the 24-year-old has dabbled in modelling and theatre.
"I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath's death," Ward said earlier this year.
Ward is expected to join the rest of The Great Gatsby A-list cast this week.
I'm so damn excited right now!
