After seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, three 12 year old friends, Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb, began filming their own shot-by-shot adaptation in the backyards of their Mississippi homes. Seven years later their film was in the can. Raiders: The Adaptation was shot completely out of sequence over seven years, resulting in the casts' transformation in voice tone, hair style and body size from scene to scene.

I own a copy of it, and let me tell you, its an amazing thing to watch. Unfortunately, unless you want to be a pirate, this movie is very difficult to find on the web. All that existed for a while were trailers and news reports about screenings that this movie gets every so often (thank god for the YT clip). But its there, if you know how to look. There was also supposed to be a movie (kind of like Son of Rambo) that had to do with the three kids and their summers creating the film. But its been stuck in development hell.
Also, Steven Spielberg had the pleasure of meeting all three kids. This is from a letter he wrote:
"Wanted to let you know how impressed I was with your very loving and detailed tribute to our Raiders of the Lost Ark. I saw and appreciated the vast amounts of imagination and originality you put in your film. Again, congratulations. I'll be waiting to see your names someday on the big screen."
Hope you enjoyed this little 'original' inspired post. Of course, feel free to post other fan videos too!
