Jane Curtin talks about the misogyny at SNL on Oprah

Oprah Winfrey broke her long streak of reruns today, hosting a handful of former SNL-ers, including Tina Fey,Tracy Morgan, Dana Carvey, Chevy Chase, and Jane Curtin. Each got their sappy moment with O, discussing their favorite sketches and giggling about their common fear of show creator Lorne Michaels. But when the topic turned to women in the SNL writers' room, Curtin got serious, describing a generally misogynistic tone at the show during the early years, especially coming from John Belushi. "[John] said, 'Women are just fundamentally not funny,'" she recalled. "He felt as though it was his duty to sabotage pieces that were written by women." This seemed to really upset Tracy Morgan, who jumped in, shouting, "Tina Fey put me on!" SNL, you've come a long way, baby.
