US hitmaker Teddy Riley has released a statement regarding the success of his freshly launched K-Pop girl group RaNia, expressing his surprise over the amount of attention the group have been receiving on Youtube and the Blogosphere so soon after their debut. RaNia’s agency DR Music have also spoken out about the early success, revealing that Teddy phoned them up “amazed” by all the attention.
A rep for DR Music state, “On the morning of the 7th, he made an international call and expressed that he was amazed over the power of K-pop as he watched news of Rania spread through YouTube and Twitter. He’s read all of the English news on the girls and is quite stunned.”Teddy also revealed something very interesting during his recent interview: He expressed his disappointment over not being able to catch RaNia’s debut showcase this week because he was too busy with Rihanna’s “album production”.He didn’t elaborate any further, but I smell a Loud repackage.
Teddy stated, “The majority of the comments weren’t from Koreans, but international K-pop fans. I didn’t think that people from where I live, the States, would be so interested in K-pop. There were some that even recognized the girls’ names, and most of the comments were praising ‘K-pop talent.’ ”
“I’m glad that my girl group is doing so well, and I sincerely congratulate their debut.”
Teddy co-produced Michael Jackson’s Dangerous album, as well as “Teeth” from Lady GaGa’s The Fame Monster, so RiRi should be in good hands.
