Cheryl Cole: "LA is Scary"
The 27-year-old is best known for her stint in pop group Girls Aloud, and has managed to create a blossoming solo career while the band are on a break to explore separate ventures. Cheryl has already collaborated with stars including will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, and has recently been spending time in America to focus on her music.
Cheryl admits the culture in the west coast of the US is so different to what she is used to.
“I found it overwhelming when I first came to Los Angeles. Everything’s a bit spread out and you have to drive everywhere. Also the mentality is really different. For a start, everyone tells you to have a nice morning! It takes a little while to adapt,” she told the British edition of Glamour.
Despite being a fan of the US, Cheryl confirms she still hankers for home, even if the weather is much improved in Los Angeles. To compensate, the songstress believes it’s important that she attempts to bring a touch of London chic to the exotic sun-bleached streets.
“London is still home, though, and I haven’t set down roots here. LA is mainly for work and for recording. But just to have the sunshine, it makes you feel alive. Everyone is a bit more relaxed here, too. They just throw on shorts and shirts. Nobody really cares that much about how they look because the sun makes you so relaxed. You almost feel out of place to be too put together, but being from England, it’s in me to naturally want to dress up a little bit,” she added.
Meanwhile, Cheryl also explained that despite all the hard work and dedication she puts into her career, she does sometimes feel as though she’s been pushing herself too far. The singer thinks it’s time for her to embrace a more relaxed attitude, and stop worrying about the future.
“I really plan to not plan. I’ve had my life mapped out for the best part of ten years, so for now I just want to enjoy myself and live in the moment,” she smiled.
Cheryl Cole: Life Plans, Diet & Chocolate
Cheryl Cole has said that she feels relaxed with her life at the moment, even though she doesn't know what she will be working on next.
The 'Promise This' star told Glamour magazine that she feels like her whole life has been 'mapped out' for her so is enjoying the break from schedule right now.
"I really plan to not plan," she told the magazine. "I've had my life mapped out for the best part of 10 years, so for now I just want to enjoy myself and live in the moment."
Cheryl also spoke about her experiences in America, where she is currently living. The X Factor star said she was shocked by the nations obssesion with health and diet, saying:
"I don't have a regime that I regularly stick to. I honestly don't have one," she admitted. "But the TV out here is non-stop with adverts for the latest health craze. People give themselves too much of a hard time with stuff like that - just do it if you want to."
That's not to say Cheryl will be going size zero any time soon, not if her chocolate diet is anything to go by. Discussing the British traditions she misses, Cheryl said: "Ringtons tea from Newcastle is the best. I always ask my family to bring me some when they visit. I also miss British chocolate. American chocolate is awful - it's like wax.
"I have to get some Dairy Milk or Galaxy brought out. As for their KitKats… I don't know how they can even call them KitKats."

Cheryl Cole: "I Can't Wait to see Kate Middleton's Dress"
Though she joked last week her invite 'must have got lost in the post,' the Geordie pop star will be switching on her TV to see the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
'Like every other girl in the country, I can't wait to see Kate's dress,' says Cheryl, 27. 'She's going to look beautiful.'
Chezza is also curious how Kate will wear her beautiful hair on her big day.
'I asked my hairdresser what she thinks Kate does to her hair to get it that shiny,' she tells Glamour.
'She looks as though she just wakes up with it looking like that.
'She should get a deal with L'Oréal!'
