The security guard and waiter found the $2 million diamond and platinum bauble at Trump`s Mar-a-Lago resort and returned it to the unidentified woman who had lost it during a recent dinner/dance headlined by Jay Leno, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
Outlaw Biker magazine founder Casey Exton said upon learning the member left without tipping the honest employees, Trump called her and gave her a good talking-to, the Daily News said.
Trump reportedly shamed her into returning to the club Sunday and leaving two fat envelopes for his staff.
The guest, who the Daily News declined to name, refused to say how much she left as a reward, saying: 'I don`t think that`s anybody`s business -- that`s ugly.'
It's unfortunate that people feel the need to be rewarded for doing the right thing, but at the same time, I would think Trump wants to maintain an image that his employees do not steal from guests. Maybe he feels if employees are rewarded when they find lost items they are more likely to encourage other employees to do the same. Sticky one. Why didn't he just reward them himself if he felt so strongly about it? But it's nice to hear he takes care of his employees and a tip would have been nice.
